Feature summary:

So many media files have duration (video, audio files) on Commons. It is available both through UI and through Imageinfo API (enabled with size parameter). But for MIDI files it seems there is none available. It seems MIDI files are not processed on the server to extract this metadata. I would like to ask that MIDI files are also processed and that duration is extracted.

Use case(s):

Knowing the duration of the file beforehand helps one understand what type of file it is (is it a small sample or is it a whole song). Moreover, one can then filter/search only over files of certain length.

Benefits:

Having more metadata about files on Commons makes it easier to navigate/browse/search among 80 million files there. Manually it is really hard, so having metadata is useful. Especially if it is basic metadata like duration.
