Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hello, please add the Draft namespace to the Central Kurdish Wikipedia

The namespace should be named "ڕەشنووس" and the Talk page should be named "لێدوانی ڕەشنووس".

@Sakura_emad Just need some information:

  1. Do you have preferences for the robot policy? For example, do you want to completely de-index the Draft/Draft_talk namespaces (setting noindex and nofollow)?
  2. If so, do you want also to disable manual indexing, so the INDEX/NOINDEX magic words won't work in the draft namespace, even if manually added in a draft?
  3. Do you want to enable the visual editor in the Draft namespace?

Thanks :)

Note: I read, if my translation is not wrong, in the proposal that "only autoconfirmed can create pages". Actually this is not possible (see the policy), an exception was made for enwiki, but the project had the consensus and above all the right size and a high enough number of active users for this major change. You should clarify this with the project, and probably some opposites will also support the proposal, since newbies could anyway create page also in ns0!

Hello @Superpes15 thanks for the brief explanation here's what we want:

  1. Completely De-index the namespace which means not even magic words can index it.
  2. Enable both Visual/source editor.

We wanted to have Draft namespace so we can improve the quality of the project and let its users to practice & experience the wiki environment better. as for Policy-rule to decline such requests unless there is special circumstances. well unlike some restrictions that enabled on some wikis so every edit needed to be patrolled we don't want to do such thing, because if we restrict editing to this extent even minor edits must be patrolled then the project's establishment will loss its core meaning "the Free Encyclopedia that Anyone can edit". same as what enwiki does, we want new articles to be created by experienced users for example super new users cannot create one in main name space because they may not have what it takes to make an actual article. and we have countless of cases of abuse to warrant such thing, we even categorized such articles on ckbwiki.

we want to separate users who experienced wiki environment from super newbies
so, every user who knows the environment and wondered around for some days can normally create an article, and we can mark it as patrolled later.

this procedure is only bad and not beneficial for Vandals , for anyone who wants to be able to create an article, basically just make 10 edits and wonder around on the wiki for 3-4 days, then here you are with access of creating new articles, only vandals will be dissatisfied Becuase when their account with auto-confirmed right blocked they cannot wait for another 3-4 days [what a pain on the neck for them right?] to make another account then wait for another 3-4 days.

so in a nutshell: to better organize ckbwiki quality (its users and content quality). we want our new users to experience wiki environment beforehand then give them the access of creating new articles, that way they wonder around the encyclopedia while learning about it (how it works, what is it, getting basic knowledge),

Questions:
who will benefit? everyone especially Patrollers & Admins
what we will prevent? misusing the encyclopedia (out of scope use).
who will not benefit? Vandals.
what we want to achieve? Better Encyclopedic quality.

thanks.

we want new articles to be created by experienced users for example super new users cannot create one in main name space

This still sounds like "prevent non-autoconfirmed editors from creating pages", which will likely require[0] that ckb.wikipedia demonstrate it:

  • is prepared to handle drafts in a timely manner,
  • has a well developed editing and administrative community, and
  • has established an unusually broad consensus for the change.

@TheresNoTime , the reason why i provided long-going explanation was to cover up any necessary questions with it, i believe i answered your concerns, we're not restricting anything to begin with, we're updating old procedures that used to create an article, for example as i said above, 1.imagine there is a new user just registered on ckbwiki, 2. wants to create an article, but unaware/inexperience of our policies and guidelines, it's an absolute beginner who just started, doesn't know anything about Wikipedia.

given the situation they should not have access to create a new article until they get auto-confirmed? same as enwiki it merely takes 10 edits and 3-4 days of account age, in the meantime the user could go and read about policies and guidelines or clicking at 'Random Pages' to see how things are working, then edit some articles, to experience wiki environment and learn more about an actual article Quality it merely takes 4 days at most.

seeing all of this it's not a restriction but a way to protect about our environment and provide better place for its users and visitors.

if you're a regular user of ckbwiki you don't know this: but ckbwiki staff (patrollers and Admins) are exhausted on cleaning up the mess that made by inexperienced users. and every year or so, there will be a flood on newly created articles by college/university students, which most of it doesn't follow our policies & guidelines to stay.

As said on Discord, done for the namespace part, please evaluate the autoconfirmed change in the next months and, in case, open a new task. Best.
