Setup a Zabbix Server on a new "monitoring" server
Open, HighPublic

Description

Let's setup a nice Zabbix Server on a new "monitoring" server, separated from intreccio for obvious reasons.

Also, eventually evaluate a different service provider for this server, just because we can evaluate different service providers, for example evaluating Hetzner.

Proposed specifications:

Just the most recent Debian, with the most recent zabbix-proxy-mysql.

Note that at the moment Debian bookworm is not stable, but it will provide Zabbix 6.0 that is quite decent for our purposes:

This was an idea during a standard call with Stefano C. and Valerio. But also because Rosario loves Zabbix so much. Also after T338175.

Event Timeline

This sounds a little overkill. A gratis Grafana Cloud account is probably enough. I use it to forward node-exporter metrics through otel-collector to their managed Prometheus, it takes few minutes to set up and then you don't have to worry about anything.

Uhm. Interesting. Honestly I have no experience with Grafana standalone, but I have a somehow experience with Zabbix agent/client/proxy, followed by Stefano, and @Oirasor7 of course who is an awesome Zabbix Expert and Zabbix evangelist.

Rosario: what do you think about Zabbix vs Grafana, for the server fleet of WMIT?
