Page deletion acknowledgment should link directly to list of deleted edits
Open, Needs TriagePublicFeature

Description

Feature summary

As an admin, once I delete a page, I see a special "Action complete" page, showing an acknowledgment of that deletion. Its content incudes "[name of deleted page]" has been deleted. See deletion log for a record of recent deletions."

In order to see links allowing me to "View and undelete deleted page", I have to then click on the link for the now non-existent page, where I then have to click on "View and undelete deleted page", to get to Special:Undelete&target=[name of deleted page]

Instead, the link to "View and undelete deleted page" should be included also on the "Action complete" acknowledgement page.

Use case(s)

Admins may need to view deleted pages/ diffs immediately after deletion for a number of reasons:

  • To find the relevant editor(s) other contributions
  • To block a bad editor
  • To report a bad editor at a noticeboard, or to issue a conduct warning to them
  • To check the correct page was deleted
  • To undelete an erroneously deleted page
  • Other

Benefits

The proposed change will remove an unnecessary step before the above actions can be performed, thus speeding up remedial actions and increasing admin productivity

Once again you ask me to follow some obscure procedure, whose design and ontology are opaque to casual users.

In this case, I typed "delet" in the tags dialogue box, and "MediaWiki-Page-deletion" was not among the suggested values; none of which were appropriate.

@Pigsonthewing: Please see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Help#Selecting_projects if things are unclear. Please try to add project tags in the future. Thanks a lot!

And yet the prompt text in the dialogue says only "Type a project name".

As I said: "obscure procedure ... design ... opaque to casual users"

Being one of those casual users - and as a volunteer, contributing in my own time - I find the assumption that I did not, when raising the ticket, use my best endeavours somewhat demotivating.
