As described in the Mutualized Opensearch design doc , Users should be able to restore their indices from backups if needed. While the feature will be disabled by default, we can provide snapshots on demand or create them on a schedule if requested.
Creating this ticket to design/implement:
- Scheduled snapshots (likely a combination of Puppet code and a Python script). We need a way to expire snapshots after X amount of days. Could be implemented by S3/Swift object expiration.
