Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):
- Go to https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/
- In the search box, type red
- Hit enter to search
What happens?:
Gerrit autoselects the first entry in the search dropdown, which is is:starred, and searches for that.
What should have happened instead?:
Just search what I ask for.
Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):
- This is reproducible with any search operator. Some examples that I could see being used as search queries: "merge" (adds mergedafter:), "open" (is:open), "close" (is:closed).
- There doesn't seem to be a search button that I can click to bypass the keyboard navigation of the dropdown.
- This bug only shows when the problematic word is at the end of the search query. So, searching for color red is impossible, but red color works.
- Other workarounds are to wrap the searched word in quotes ("red"), or to put it inside another search operator (message:red). Still, the current behaviour is annoying AF if you just type in your query quickly without thinking too much.
