vertical alignment of thumbs with orientation "left"
Open, Needs TriagePublicBUG REPORT

Description

Problem on tablet:
all image files with thumb orientation "left" are displayed not horizontally aligned in center, not in vertical alignment with images w/o orientation or orientation "right".

The difference is only about 3 mm to the left, and significant when in direct sequence with other images (otherwise a less obvious issue)

A possible factor playing into it, might be that the page is not fixed, instead always slightly 'floats' left/right (why anyway?) about the same amount the vertical alignment differs between images.

Hi @MenkinAlRire, thanks for taking the time to report this!

Wiki 2.7.50489

What does that mean?

Could you please link to an example page / full link where the problem can be seen? Could you also attach a screenshot of the problem, please?

Thanks a lot! :)

I did add a sceenshot, that doesn't seem to work, but is a file on Commons.

Since it is a problem on the app concerning all pages, I didn't provide a link.

The screenshot [[:File:Screenshot of vertical misalignment of thumbs.jpg|thumb|Thumb with orientation 'left' (here ''Melencolia'') is not vertically aligned]] was taken from [[de:Albrecht Dürer#Kunsthistorische Würdigung]] = [https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albrecht_D%C3%BCrer#Kunsthistorische_W%C3%BCrdigung link]
the same happens on [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albrecht_D%C3%BCrer#Second_journey_to_Italy_(1505%E2%80%931507) en:wiki]

Since it is a problem on the app concerning all pages, I didn't provide a link.

Which app?

Am I in the right place? Someone told me phabricator is the place for the wiki app.

Maybe. :) But what exactly is "the wiki app"? Phabricator is used for hundreds or thousands of different codebases, so being specific is welcome.

I thought I gave all the info you needed. Can you please read my report again. (And I wouldn't know about thousands of codebases. I am already happy to come this far.)

I don't know what "the wiki app" is. There is a Wikipedia App for Android, there is one for iOS, there is a Commons App for Android, there are probably many other apps. Please be more specific. Thanks!

As I stated above
"Samsung tablet F7FE
One UI 6, Android 14
Wiki 2.7.50489"

I think the build number for wiki should be specific. (And didn't know there is actually a Commons app. Cool.)
And the screenshot as the links should also indicate what it is about. I really don't know, why it is not specific enough.

@MenkinAlRire: Are you using the Wikipedia mobile application for Android? (For the third time, there is no application called "Wiki".)
Thanks in advance for a clear answer.

Samsung tablet F7FE
One UI 6, Android 14
Wikipedia mobile application 2.7.50489 (btw, the beta version I just installed has the identical build number + -beta.)
