Alt text for icons
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The colour-coded icons on the left-hand side that identify the status of the page are, at least initially, going to be confusing for people. Any chance we could add alt-text explaining what each one means on mouseover?

For this sprint, these simple 'tool tips' text labels would display these labels when you hover over these icons:

Green checkmark icon: "This page has been marked as reviewed."

Red exclamation mark icon: "This page has not yet been reviewed."

Gray trash icon: "This page has been nominated for deletion."

If space is tight, we can skip the first part of each sentence ("This page has been") and just use the labels.

In coming days, we can create a story card for the full version of the flyover that Brandon had envisioned for the hover over the icons.

Any chance we could have a slightly wider fix so it appears when you mouse over any bit of the colour, not just the icon?

That would require some non-trivial changes. I'd rather wait until we redo the tooltips. At some point in the future, we're going to be replacing the tooltips with little info flyouts per the original mock-up. This is waiting on some core changes though. When we implement that, we can rework what triggers it. Let me know if that sounds acceptable.

Since the color was removed, I'm going to go ahead and mark this as fixed.
