Help:Template#Version 1.2.6
In versions 1.3 and 1.4 the prefix "msg:" is optional and ignored.
*From version 1.5 the tag refers to Template:Msg:abc !*

Dear friends!

I have seen at various wiki's that
a) many pages still contain
b) there are still many redirects from templates located originaly in the
MediaWiki namespace to their equivalent in the template namespace.

a) could be changed with a en:Wikipedia:Bot
b) are the result of actions performed by

User:Template namespace initialisation script
and can be identified with
namespace initialisation script

Best regards Reinhardt user:gangleri

For reasons that are unclear to me, Avar made an incompatible change to what
msg: did on the 1.5 branch. I've reverted the change; it now continues to be
compatible with previous usage.
