Internal Server Error after edits

Description:
OK, let me see if I can explain my problem

While I was installing MediaWiki I got the message "PHP server API is cgi: use ugly url"
The rest of the installation went fine

When I tried to log into the wiki using /index.php I received "Internal Server Error"
After searching around I chanced upon a suggestions saying to try using "/index.php?title=Main_Page"
I tried this and everything came up working fine.

I started exploring and messing around with the different pages to make sure all the links clicked
to a properly operating page. All good.

I finally tried my hand at editing my Main_Page. As soon as I saved the edit I got "Internal Server
Error". I clicked back and tried editing my Help:Contents page to see if the problem would
duplicate. Before the edit it worked fine, after the edit "Internal Server Error".

I didn't want to mess around anymore before I asked for some help.

If you would like to check it out, you can find an operational page at

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Before continuing you should:

  1. Check the error_log for messages.
  2. Upgrade PHP; 4.2.3 is three years out of date and may simply not work.
  3. Upgrade MediaWiki to 1.5.0 release.

Thanks, that did it. Version 4.2.3 did not work, so I had my webhost upgrade me to PHP 5.
