Lists and comparisons
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Author: brian

Description:
Lists and comparisons can have duplicate data. Consider
[[en:List of BitTorrent clients]] and [[en:List of
applications supporting BitTorrent]]. All the information
on the first page is on the second page, but under the
current system, the data is stored twice. Also, on the
first page, some clients belong in more than one section -
more duplication.

With duplication, checks and updates are harder and it is
easier for data to become outdated.

We might want to look further, like the individual
clients' articles' categories.

i don't understand the relation of this bug to mediawiki. do you want to propose some
extension to the category system?

brian wrote:

Yes, but I also want to propose a feature to extract a
list from other information, such as [[en:Comparison of
applications supporting BitTorrent]].

brian wrote:

A category is just a list so the extension to the
category system would build upon this capability to
extract lists.
