If the TOC magic word is used to force the placement of the table of contents in a certain location, a blank string
will replace any instance of $ followed by any string of digits (not including ".") in the TOC. "$0" is an exception; it
is replaced by "TOC".

I tested this on my personal wiki running 1.5.3 on Mac OS X 10.4 and Wikipedia-en running 1.6alpha. More evidence can be

that "$0.02" becomes "__TOC__.02" in the table of contents).
