using thumbnails disrupts background color specified in <div> markup
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When transcluded content (for example, in the content boxes on Wikipedia
portals) contains thumbnails, part of the region around the thumbnail takes on
the default namespace background color, rather than the specified background color.

See, for example:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ragesoss/template

This occurs with Internet Explorer 6, Firefox 1.5, and Opera 8.51, at least.

It actually has nothing to do with transcluded content. Rather, the box-header
template used in most Wikipedia portals contains <div style="background: [some
color];">. This specified color gets disrupted by using the "thumb" style with
an image (i.e., [[image:imagefile.jpg|thumb|center|200px|here's the caption.]]).
