[[ https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/citoid | citoid ]] is a tool (service+MediaWiki extension) powering VisualEditor's citation autofill feature. It is based on [[ https://www.zotero.org/ | Zotero ]], a third-party tool that works well with many major scientific publishers, but is weaker when it comes to news and specialized websites. Due to the diversity of citations used on Wikimedia sites, it's important to assess how well Zotero (and in turn, citoid) handles citations commonly used by our editors. This task aims to explore how well citoid is working for citations used on Wikimedia sites, and possibly make recommendations to improve it (or Zotero itself).
