Migrate archives of the OKFN-hosted Open-GLAM mailing list to Wikimedia's mailman
Open, LowPublic

Description

The Open-GLAM mailing list, formerly hosted by the Open Knowledge Foundation, will be migrated to Wikimedia's mailman. The mailing list on lists.wikimedia.org has already been created for this purpose: https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/open-glam

In a recent discussion on the list, it was mentioned that it would be good to migrate the archives of the 'old' list to the new one as well. @Nemo_bis indicated that he can provide the mbox for this. Whom can/should he send this to?

Update: I @SandraF_WMF have access to the mbox file and can send it to whomever can do the archives import. Please ping me when that's possible.

I am personally not familiar with mailman format. Maybe @herron, our mail expert, knows how to proceed with this? Even if he cannot do it, if he knows it is a trivial procedure "copy the file to a path", I could do it myself.

I am marking it as low priority, as this is a nice to eventually get done but shouldn't be impacting the current ability of collaborators to communicate- if it is an easy procedure, also should not take long.

@SandraF_WMF Assuming the archive is small enough AND public information, you can share it with me at jcrespo@ mail, and I can at least move it to the production servers.

Sounds good @jcrespo, please pass back to me when you've received the export and uploaded it to the mailman host and I'll see what I can do to import. Thanks!

I still got no answer yet :-/.

Thanks both! I just emailed the .mbox file to @jcrespo - it's not small (44MB) so let's see how this goes.

@jcrespo and @herron - just checking in, do you think this will work? Let me know if I can do anything to help.

@Dzahn has previously looked at it in T109395: import old staff list archives ? and documented some notes.
