[Sub-Epic] Watchlist for iOS
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Background
As the Wikipedia community continues to grow and evolve, listening and responding to our users' needs and requests is crucial. One such proposal that has resonated with many users is implementing the Watchlist feature within our Wikipedia apps.
The feature enables users to maintain a list of articles they're interested in, making it easy to stay updated on their changes and edits.

How will we know we were successful

  • KR 1.1: 5% increase in edits from experienced editors (50+ Edits)
  • KR 1.2: 10% increase in edit activity from US and Canada
  • KR 1.3: 10% increase in visit to diff pages per unique user
  • KR 1.4: 60% overall satisfaction with feature for experienced editors (Amal user survey)

Other Questions

  • What ratio of users engage with rollback, thank and undo for Android vs. iOS
  • Did we see an increase in users visiting diff pages (new Watchlists entry point)
  • How often are users clicking affordances (buttons on the page) within the diff page
  • Of the people that engaged with Watchlist did we see an increase in edits

Must haves for version 1

  • Home
  • Add to Watchlist
  • Watchlist expiry
  • Dialog (tapping usernames)
  • Switching between languages
  • User contributions page [Mobile Web Based]
  • Compare revisions
  • Undo [Native]
  • Rollback [Native]

User stories

  • As an editor with a busy schedule, I want the Watchlist feature to be integrated with other tools and features on Wikipedia,so that I can easily access all the information I need to edit articles in one place.
  • As a frequent Wikipedia user, I want to be able to access my Watchlist on my iOS device so that I can keep track of articles I'm interested in and stay updated on their changes and edits even when I'm on-the-go.
  • As an editor with visual impairments, I want the Watchlist feature to be accessible using screen readers, so that I can efficiently navigate through the changes to articles I'm interested in without any obstacles.
  • As a user of iOS devices, I want the Watchlist feature to be designed in accordance with Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, so that it feels natural and intuitive to use and fits seamlessly into the overall iOS user experience.

Primary target audiences
