I feel like the same underlying suggestion has been made before (though perhaps not with icons), haven't been able to find a ticket to merge with though

ShoutWiki's StaffEdits extension allows privileged users (users who have the staffedit user right, which is staff on ShoutWiki) to mark their edits as official staff edits so that it's easy to distinguish the edits which were done in a volunteer capacity from those done officially. Maybe this extension could be further improved & extended to provide the desired functionality?
