I think this is about templates in general, especially templates reusing references in some form, like references to Imdb. The user wants to have access to those references in the cite dialog's re-usable references in VisualEditor.

From the question at our Bazar (w:no:Wikipedia:Torget): Another problem is the re-use of references in the VisualEditor. It is unable to read references that are info boxes and thus it does not capture all of the references that can be used in an article.

A later comment: Reusing references only works in the main text, ie it does not capture any reference that is put in the info box
