"Templates used on this page" causes confusion
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Visit this page:

http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Board_elections/2008/fa&action=edit&oldid=995274

It says the templates used on that page are:

  • Template:Board elections 2008
  • Template:Board elections 2008/fa
  • Template:Other languages
  • Template:Other languages/Board elections/2008
  • Template:Other languages/link

Now hit the "Preview" button. The new list of used temaplates appears as:

  • Template:Board elections 2008
  • Template:Board elections 2008/fa
  • Template:Other languages
  • Template:Other languages/Board elections/2008
  • Template:Other languages/link
  • Template:Update needed
  • Template:Update needed/fa

If I'm not wrong, this happens because the first list is generated based on the "current" version of the page (which doesn't use {{Update needed}} template) while the second is based on the version that is previewed.

Anyways, this causes confusion.
