Namespace selection via checkboxes on Special:Watchlist instead of drop down
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Author: blaxthos

Description:
Often times I want to limit my watch list display to more than one namespace, but fewer than all choices. As it stands now, one may select All namespacen, or just one.

How about check boxen (like in search) where one may select multiple namespacen? Should also include default selections in preferences.

Thanks!

This is almost impossible to provide in a user friendly way. A standard MediaWiki installation has 16 namespaces (leads to 16 checkboxes), and it is possible to add namespaces, leading to additional checkboxes. What would happen can be observed at the bottom of [[Special:Search]].

As far as I am concerned, this feature request will get a 'WONTFIX'.

I can imagine some kind of solution, though, that would make it possible to *exclude* one namespace, by adding the same behaviour as shown on [[Special:RecentChanges]]. There you can select a namespace, and select "Invert selection", to all recent changed, except those of the selected namespace. Would that resolve your request?

Suggestion from comment 2 implemented in r39314, including show/hide logged in users, and show/hide anonymous.

Does this suffice to close this issue as resolved?
