Description:
Dear all,
please could the join/quit message be removed from the wikimedia-IRC-Channels.
Lately they are infested by spambots, I did a whois on one and got:
“20 F OoOo”
Google says: http://www.google.com/search?q=%E2%80%9C20+F+OoOo%E2%80%9D&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:de:official&client=firefox-a to that

They seem well known on other channels/sites:

Extract from an IRC channel from today:
http://fr.pastebin.ca/1177916
They join multiple channels at once and only stay for a minute and switch channels.

It would be nice if the join/quits could be suppressed or the odd bots be banned.

Many thanks, best regards,
Elisabeth Anderl

Any decent IRC client can be set to "conference mode" (or a mode by a similar name), hiding joins, leaves, quits and nick changes. Some clients even have an option to do that automatically if there are more than a certain number of users in the channel. Suggest WONTFIX.

Elisabeth, please have a look at your IRC client documentation.
You can most certainly hide this messages :) Closing bug.
