new possibility to ignore navbox links in Special:WhatLinksHere
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

I agree with T124168#3716544 about "large directories of articles that may only be tangentially related to the article" and think that we should have ability to hide such relations at least for some situations.

What are examples for "navbox links"? Did you mean "links that are inside included in any templates embedded on a wiki page" instead?

To me, T14396 seems like a way better approach for this?

Similar to T14396. But "should list the template" is not needed in some situations.

We can hide redirects completely.
We should have an option to hide navigational templates completely.

Sometimes only direct links are important: not redirects or templated links

How to technically differentiate between "navigational templates" and other templates?

Some wiki have special means for this. Like "I want to create navigational template" wizards or "I want to create data-driven template" or other templates.

If some template includes canonical navbox several times then it is navigational template. If it has something else - then other templates should be considered first.

Is there an existing, generic way to technically differentiate whether template X is a navigational template or not? If yes, can you provide an example?
I'm asking because the last thing I'd like to see is having a manual list of names of specific templates per each wiki which sounds like a maintenance nightmare.

I don't think that Mediawiki has this code. Not more complex than 2-3-4-5-level-redirects.

Funny enough, almost all of them are named "Navbox" after Wikipedia.

It is enough to count templates with just Navboxes to get almost every such template.
