This is a PITA as usual... Here we go:
- So I need data of volunteers at "Wikimania Hackathon 2017" to construct a query.
- I find a spreadsheet called "Wikimania Hackathon newcomers".
- I copy the email addresses and user names included in it.
- I manually remove those names which are not considered newcomers by us. (Though for three names I personally still would not see them as newcomers.)
- Now I follow the steps in https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T175854#3605693 to construct an SQL query.
- I realize that I don't have a fresh DB dump locally installed, so pulling a JSON dump and importing it will block me for the next ~6h to work on this...

Continuation from previous comment
- DB dump imported
- Use email addresses and user names to create SQL query in P6671
- Use SQL query results to form the Sparql query
- Go to https://wikimedia.biterg.io/app/kibana#/dashboard/Overview
- Adjust time frame in upper right corner to only cover Q4/2017
- Enter the Sparql query in the search field
- Get: https://wikimedia.biterg.io/goto/4071fa89a225e462eda688e1dd8ed70e with one person active in Q4/2017.

Sad, but true that one person who was active in Q4/2017 from Wikimania Hackathon 2017 never actually attended the event, also not a newcomer, etc.

@srishakatux: Well, then https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/New_Developers/Quarterly/2018-01#Outreach_programs_and_events is wrong and should be fixed?
Or what does that mean?
