Do not add redundant URL to citation template when an identifier like OCLC, PMID or DOI is given
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

As can be seen here, when an OCLC or PMID is found, Citoid adds not only this identifier, but an URL https://www.worldcat.org/oclc/<$OCLC>/https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/<$PMID> to the citation template as well. This is redundant. A web link should only be provided if it points directly to the fulltext of the resource.

Weblinks from OCLC/PMID/DOI can be generated and managed much better by the citation template used.

Event Timeline

This is true, although it is not clear to me while that other task was closed as Declined. This task is not about TemplateData, but Citoid should never deliver auto-generated URLs for these identifiers. Instead, it should only deliver an URL if it points to the fulltext version.

@Deskana This was raised on our VE issues page again today. Do you expect this to be worked on anytime soon?

No, given that this task is a duplicate of a declined one. That said, I'm just guessing; @Mvolz is in charge of Citoid, not me. Perhaps she can help you.

I've merged this task into the other one now, which I forgot to do before. Discussion about this matter should happen in the other task.
