A common subset of this is migrating content from an external Wikibase to Wikidata.

This relates to the tickets for pulling / pushing to and from multiple Wikibase instances

This would include considerations about

  • Copyright
  • data access at the source (e.g. reading from MediaWiki API/ SPARQL endpoint/ RDF/ dumps etc.)
  • data deposition at the target (e.g. bot rights, PyWikiBot or depositing RDF)

Another aspect of this would be to consider ShEx for selecting the data to be migrated. More info via https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T192884 .
