Currently in version 2 of Content Translation, adding a new link the the translation (e.g., using ctr+k), opens the new link card without any initial suggestions. Suggestions are only provided when the user starts typing the name of a page.
However, in the context of a translation users may want to add links based on those present in the source paragraph. This ticket proposes to show an initial set of suggestions:
- The suggestions will show the corresponding pages in the target wiki for the links present in the source paragraph.
- Suggestions will be shown using the same format as the suggestions shown when typing a page name.
- Suggestions will be only shown when the page exist on the target wiki. So no suggestion for "X page does not exist" to add it as a link.
- Suggestions will be ordered by showing on top those links which are not present in the translation. This would facilitate the process of quickly adding the next link while translating from scratch.
In the example below (based on an English-to-Spanish translation), a page suggestion for the equivalent of "fresh cheese", "capsicums" and "onions" in Spanish Wikipedia will be provided as suggestions if an article exists.
This can help translators that look for a more fluent process for adding links, especially for those starting from scratch.
