This was requested by multiple users at the German-language Wikipedia's village pump (permalink).
Currently, the page intro and filter settings on Special:NewPages and Spezial:Neue Seiten occupy a large fraction of the screen even at 1920x1080 resolution:
In order to see the newly added pages, users first need to scroll down quite a bit. There should be an option to permanently collapse/hide the filter settings (and possibly also the intro, but that's something the communities can choose to shorten if needed) so that editors who regularly review new pages can access the list, which is no doubt the most important part of the page, directly.
