Red label at alerts
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

When a Wikimedia user gets an alert - I mean an alert at the top of the page close to the bell-sign - a red label with a number appears. This gives a shock... one might think you made a severe error, while usually somebody just pinged you, or you received a message on your talk page. I checked this with some other persons, they feel the same.

Only in some cases it is a revert..

Could the color be changed from red to green or some other friendly color?

I'm not that great in css but this seems to be a temporary solution (paste in your common.css). Maybe there are elements wrong or something, feel free to improve.

#pt-notifications-alert .mw-echo-notifications-badge.mw-echo-unseen-notifications:after { background-color:#5ecf41; }

Facebook also uses a number on red ground. Twitter uses a number on blue ground. Personal preferences may differ and "friendly color" understanding might differ. I currently do not see reasons why the default should be changed for everybody. Furthermore it is possible to customize this via common.css. Hence I am boldly declining this task.
