Add tw-photomedia.de to the wgCopyUploadsDomains whitelist of Wikimedia Commons
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Hello,

today I uploaded the image https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Mount_Rushmore_detail_view.jpg on Wiki Commons. This image is limited on 100 Megapixel for file size reasons. Commons allows uploads unly up tp 100 MB file size, but the full version of the image has about 300 MP and 612 megapixels.

I uploaded it on my website https://tw-photomedia.de/ in full resolution, so I could use it for upload, because Commons allows uploads from the internet up to 4 GB. Unfortunately my domain is not white listed, so I can't upload it: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Upload_tools/wgCopyUploadsDomains

Could you please white list my domain? If this is not possible permanently, maybe you can white list the domain for one or two days? That would be enough time to upload the image. But in the future I will certainly have more uploads over 100 MB, so I would have to ask again.

Thank you very much!

Regards, Thomas Wolf

@DerWolfimWald I believe that I can make it come into effect on Commons in Monday between 11:00-12:00 UTC.

Change 595146 had a related patch set uploaded (by Zoranzoki21; owner: Zoranzoki21):
[operations/mediawiki-config@master] Add tw-photomedia.de in wgCopyUploadsDomains

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/595146

I had to reschedule my patch for later because I have test when is SWAT window for which I wanted to schedule my patches. This will be deployed between 18:00–19:00 UTC at monday.

Apart from a statement in this task that https://tw-photomedia.de is the website of DerWolfimWald, there is no way we could verify that information. I can imagine this needs to go through OTRS.
Furthermore, that website has zero information on the license of works, so I don't see why it (currently) should be added to the whitelist?

@Aklapper You asked me why I made patch "without performing any required checks"?

I made it because of this:

I uploaded it on my website https://tw-photomedia.de/ in full resolution, so I could use it for upload, because Commons allows uploads from the internet up to 4 GB.
