Do not show CAPTCHAs to autoconfirmed accounts on WikiSpore
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Either limit captchas to non-autoconfirmed, like it's done on Wikimedia sites, or disable them completely.

Event Timeline

Are you autoconfirmed on Wikispore? I can't imagine why capcthas would show up then.
In any case, we can probably get rid of captchas entirely now that we rely on Wikimedia login.

I am. They do show up. Please do remove them. Feel like my time answering them is stolen.

There's no need for an RfC. If autoconfirmed accounts see captchas, that's a bug and needs to be fixed. (Arguably even non-autoconfirmed accounts don't really need captchas, since we use Wikimedia for login.)

Tgr renamed this task from RFC: to avoid CAPTCHA Security check on WikiSpore for trusted contributors? to Do not show CAPTCHAs to autoconfirmed accounts on WikiSpore.Jun 14 2020, 11:56 AM

So will it get removed or we need to vote on this? Can we do it on next meeting in few hours? :-)

Tgr moved this task from Backlog to Next-up on the Wikispore board.

No need to vote on whether bugs should be fixed.

Great. Looking forward to no longer looking into those blurry and psychedelic patterns with letters testing me if I was a bot. For sure I am a frustrated human with each new failed test.

Tgr moved this task from Next-up to Done on the Wikispore board.

Disabled the ConfirmEdit extension; let's see if we get any spam. I wouldn't expect spambots to handle OAuth-based login, no wiki that's a commercially feasible target has it.

Fingers crossed it stays that way. thank you!
