Visibility of math formulas not adjusted in mobile app themes when using display=block (black on black background)
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

Screenshots of the Android app, comparing the Light, Dark, and Black themes for the article Tensegrity: https://imgur.com/a/3qOrFTL.

While the themes show inline math fine, when it is indented using <math display="block">, it is not adjusted to match the theme. For the Dark theme, the contrast is low, and in the black theme it's completely unseeable.

Note, this method of indenting formulas is officially supported by the extension, and mentioned in English Wikipedia help documentation.

Aklapper renamed this task from Visibility of math formulas not adjusted in mobile app themes when using display=block to Visibility of math formulas not adjusted in mobile app themes when using display=block (black on black background).Jun 5 2020, 6:31 AM
Aklapper edited projects, added Wikipedia-Android-App-Backlog; removed Math.

Boldly removing Math and adding Wikipedia-Android-App-Backlog as this seems to be about general theming shipped by that application.

This appears to be fixed already in the mobile-html version of the page that the Android app displays. @Opencooper could you verify this is fixed in the latest version of the app?

@JoeWalsh Yes, it has been fixed. Thanks everyone!

JoeWalsh claimed this task.

I'm still getting this same issue, i.e. <math display="block"> is rendered in black regardless of the background color, while math without the display declaration is correctly inverted to white, exactly as shown in the original screenshots in 2020. This is also true when I open the URL posted by @JoeWalsh above. Phone is on Android 9, app version 2.7.50397-r-2022-03-09. A prime example, btw, is the page on Bernoulli's principle.
So I'd request to reopen if reproducible?

@Aklapper @Opencooper The black text on dark background issue is reproducible for me on different phone-and PC-based browsers when opening the above mobile-html URL. Could someone else verify that something in the meantime seems to have caused this issue to be un-fixed?

@MrArsGravis: Please file a new ticket with steps to reproduce - thanks! https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_report_a_bug
