In an effort to make Phabricator more friendly to inexperienced users, I wonder if there could be a persistent "Create new..." button on the top bar (next to the bookmark) with just two options: "new task" and "new bug". This would catch users who log in and then are overwhelmed by the interface and don't know what to do (I was one of those once!).
I see that something similar shows up on the top right of deeper screens:

There is one already (It has the defaults, until personally customized), Although the icon probably isn't the most obvious icon for new users.

The "new users" comment refers to the exact problem I'm pointing out.
I'm talking about a text-labeled button (as my screenshot shows) with two options underneath. If the bookmark icon can be changed to a text-labeled button that says "Create new..." we're halfway there.
It was previously a + symbol, then it transitioned to a star and now to the bookmark icon. T160125: The star for the "favorites" menu is non-obvious
Thanks for the context, @Peachey88 . My suggestion here is that there be a text label, regardless of the icon.
