The API is easy to use, because a while ago Bryan added a DOI lookup feature I suggested, which looks like this: https://fatcat.wiki/release/lookup?doi=10.1167%2F19.10.102d .

The copyright implications of linking to a web archive are also relatively straightforward in USA law. However the English Wikipedia community contains some people who are vocally against web archival for academic works (or even more generally against green open access), so this task will be lowest priority until someone volunteers to handle its "social" aspects.
