This extension has spent quite a bit of calendar time sitting around and had several contributors spend a little time on different parts of it. As a result, it's configuration is a bit of a mess, and the intended ability to set defaults in the extension and allow overrides via globals is currently broken. Configuration via globals is working, but defaults are not being set. This should be fixed before we roll out to more projects.
