Just spoke with Tyler about this: he has the authority to make changes to those as he sees fit. The historical context for the first (and the see also on it) is when Mark and Markus took on the 3rd party MW releases work way back when. At that time we needed a sort of disambiguation between the roles. That may or may not be needed in the future as well but the obvious updates can be made regardless (and without much fan-fare).
