Review projects listed on mw:New_Developers (2023)
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

In Q2-Q3 of 2022, Dev Advocacy conducted a review of projects listed on the new developer's page - user & developer documentation, recommended tasks for newcomers, ensure the project meets the criteria of a featured project: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/New_Developers/Featured_Projects. This involved contacting maintainers via email, talk pages etc. to learn about the current state of the project and as part of the process, a few projects such as ORES, Huggle, WikipediaLibrary were removed and a couple of new projects were added: Scribe, VideoCutTool. Also made a call for projects on the mailing lists - both internal and WMF.

This task is about organizing a similar review a year from now. Updating the task accordingly.

As we removed the information about the review process/ developer advocacy team mention from the New Developers guide recently, I'm declining this task in the hope that folks will read the criteria and only then add their project to the guide.

...which of course only solves half of the topic (adding new projects). It does not solve the other half (removing projects). But yeah, rightfully declining, as Developer-Advocacy got dissolved without a full concept in place which tasks to be handled by whom now ("change management").
