Limited local bureaucrat just for emergency deadminship on Chinese Wikisource
Closed, DeclinedPublicFeature

Description

Feature summary:

Please allow any bureaucrat to perform just for emergency deadminship on Chinese Wikisource, so we may elect any suitable candidate. Temporarily we need something like $wgRemoveGroups['bureaucrat'][] = 'sysop';

Use case(s):

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Steward_requests/Permissions/2022-06#Zhxy_519@zhwikisource : "be up to the local community to decide, but does not constitute an emergency removal of powers". This case was due to an abusive administrator reverting the call of deadminship thrice in a row with an abusive block to retaliate.

Yet https://zh.wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource:管理員的離任#緊急除权 as the local guideline for emergency deadminship cannot be effective if no steward bothers and any bureaucrat cannot locally remove any abusive administrator.

Benefits:

https://zh.wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource:写字间#只能按章緊急解任管理員的有限行政員 has some calls to codify when to elect limited local bureaucrat just for emergency deadminship, but we need the function to set up to stop abusive administrator from repetitively reverting the call of deadminship. Then we will elect any suitable user as the temporary measure. Thanks.

Event Timeline

There are no consensus among the local community about creating such a post. I strongly condemn Jusjih for bypassing local procedures on this issue, especially that Chinese Wikisource have no local bureaucrat since about a decade ago, thus clear consensus should be needed for pushing any changes related to bureaucrats forward.

I strongly disagree Ericliu1912's claim of "bypassing local procedures on this issue" as not assuming good faith. I was just requesting some comments here during the stalled local consensus to ask what would be next, while honestly sharing where this tread is on Chinese Wikisource. This is in contrast of anyone misusing Meta request for retaliatory deadminship without informing the local users.

Chinese Wikisource with no local bureaucrat means that even if this request were granted, any candidate would have to be elected. Accepting closing this idea, hopefully those reading https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Bureaucrat#Removing_access will also read https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Limits_to_configuration_changes#Changes_that_are_likely_to_be_declined to see if similar ideas are really needed. Best wishes.
