Aklapper changed the task status from Open to Stalled.May 17 2023, 8:51 PM

@Intodesa: Thanks for reporting this. For future reference, please use the bug report form (linked from the top of the task creation page) to create a bug report, and fill in the sections in the template. Thanks.

Unfortunately this Wikimedia Phabricator task lacks some information.
If you have time and can still reproduce the situation: Please add a more complete description to this task. That should be

  • a clear and complete list of exact steps to reproduce the situation, step by step, so that nobody needs to guess or interpret how you performed each step,
  • what happens after performing these steps to reproduce,
  • what you expected to happen instead,
  • a full link to a web address where the issue can be seen,
  • the web browser(s) and web browser version(s) that you tested.

You can edit the task description by clicking Edit Task. Ideally, a good description should allow any other person to follow these steps (without having to interpret steps) and see the same results. Problems that others can reproduce can get fixed faster. Thanks again.

I'm sorry, I don't know how to explain this problem properly because I have very little technical knowledge, but my main requirement is to link Wikidata to some relevant pages in Mon Wiktionary and English Wiktionary, but now I can't connect to Wikidata due to some error, thanks.

@Intodesa: Hi, please always use the template and fill out all information. This is not about "technical knowledge". This is about avoiding misunderstandings.

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

What happens?:

What should have happened instead?:

Software version (skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):

Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):

Hi @Aklapper I don't know how to make you understand, so look at the source of the problem in the video, let me say I'm sorry for this questionπŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯

I don't know how to make you understand

Please see my previoius comment. Please fill in the template in the previous comment, as text.

What I see:
Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Category:Sudanese_Arabic_templates?useskin=vector-2022
  2. In the "Tools" section, select "Add interlanguage links"

Expected outcome:

  • Be able to add an interlanguage link.

Actual outcome:

  • Error message "An unknown error occurred." is shown

But I don't know if that's what this task is about.

It is now completely impossible to link to the corresponding language page Wikidata in Mon Wiktionary and English Wiktionary, I'm not an experienced person, so I don't know how to explain it to you.πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯

@Intodesa: Hi, there is no need to repeat the same info. Please provide clear steps to reproduce. Please provide full links.
What does someone else need to do to see the same problem? Please describe, step by step, click by click, what you do in order to link.
Please see the next lines in this comment:

My steps to reproduce:

  1. I go to https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Category:Sudanese_Arabic_templates?useskin=vector-2022
  2. In the "Tools" section, select "Add interlanguage links"

What happens:
The "Link with page" dialog appears. There is no "An unknown error occurred" message anymore.

What should happen instead:
I don't know, as it works for me, and there is still no link in this task to see some problem on mnw.wiktionary.org

Hi, @Aklapper my requirement is in this video, yesterday, due to an error I didn't understand, a lot of my work was delayed, but now Mon Wiktionary and English Wiktionary can be used again in their previous form. I have a big request for you, and that is to help the [[ https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T330689 | (Reconstruction: /Rhymes:) ]]pagers to connect to Wikidata as per the video link I provided, it's been a long time since I've made a request about (Reconstruction: /Rhymes:) page, and still don't do anything. It's disrespectful to me, but if don't want me, should be honest and open up, nothing has been done about my request and the delay for several days has hindered my activities a lot, thanks I am very sad.

but now Mon Wiktionary and English Wiktionary can be used again in their previous form.

I guess that means that this issue is resolved. For the future, please always do use the templates and fill in all information. Thanks.

nothing has been done about my request

Please discuss T330689 in T330689. You had not updated that ticket so nobody knew that there was a post on the local village pump.
If there is nobody against your proposed change on the local village pump, then anyone is free to pick up your request if anyone volunteers to work on it.
If you don't want to wait for someone else, see https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_site_requests how you can propose a code change yourself. Thanks.

Okay, if I had to wait for other people's approval for this matter, then this work would not be realized until after my death. Did you know that currently Dr.Intobesa is doing a lot of work alone as Mon literates have left Mon Wiktionary for various reasons? Did you know that there are currently only two people working hard on Mon Wikimedia? Did you know that most Mon people are more interested in business than literature? I think it's best if we say clearly that there is nothing we can do about this matter rather than asking for public support, the reason is that there are very few Mon people who are proficient in Mon literature and English language, and most of the Mon people who are proficient in English are not interested in working on wikis, they are mainly interested in making money. you can check in no time that there are only two people, Htawmonzel and Dr.Intobesa, who have done a lot of work for Mon Wikimedia, for reference, you can look at the Mon Wikimedia editor list from last month in 2023. if have to wait for someone else's approval on this matter, it is highly unlikely that this work will ever be completed, rather than making excuses for this matter, we need practical work, thanks.

I do not know what your last comment has to do with the topic of this task. This task is about "An unknown error occurred in Mon Wiktionary and English Wiktionary". Please stay on-topic. If comments are not on-topic, then it is the wrong place to add such comments.

Okay, if I had to wait for other people's approval for this matter

You can speed up the process by writing the requested code change and putting it into Gerrit. See my previous comment.
However, all and any code changes get reviewed by another pair of eyes.

rather than making excuses for this matter

Nobody "made excuses". I have no idea why you think so.
Or what this has to do with this task.
Please stay on-topic. See the task title that you yourself set here.
Thanks.

okay, @Aklapper to be honest, if there is a problem on the wiki, I don't understand what the problem is, so I can't tell you, since I don't understand the source of the problem, I can't tell you, so I sent you a photo or video of the problem. since you are a much more experienced wiki user than I am, you should be able to identify the source of the problem by looking at the photo or video I provided. to be honest, I didn't understand anything, so I sent you the source of the problem pattern as a photo or video, right? if you are a veteran wiki user, you can see the source of the problem by watching the photo or video I provided, but I don't understand these things and have no right to do so, so I am coming to you to ask for help. it is very disappointing that I have to write and talk so much to get help, and my work to continue has been delayed. like the problem that happened yesterday, it's happening again, try linking these two (Category:Midob numerals, ကဏ္ဍ:α€‚αžα€”α€Ία€žα€„α€Ία€Ήα€α€»α€¬ မိဓေါထ်) pages to Wikidata as in the video to see for yourself what the problem is, I don't have the energy to argue with you anymore, I am very tired.😭😭😭

you should be able to identify the source of the problem by looking at the photo or video I provided

No, because you did not provide a link. I asked for a link several times, and you chose to ignore my requests.

it is very disappointing that I have to write and talk so much to get help

Less writing and less talking is needed if everyone followed the bug reporting guidelines, followed the configuration change request guidelines, and quickly replies to questions. That was not always the case so far. You could avoid that in the future by following the guidelines.

I don't have the energy to argue with you anymore,

Nobody asks for arguing. I asked for sufficient information, and it is up to you to provide it. I asked you several times to fill in the template. So far you did not do that.
These are your decisions, however people cannot help if you do not provide enough information.

ကဏ္ဍ:α€‚αžα€”α€Ία€žα€„α€Ία€Ήα€α€»α€¬ မိဓေါထ်)

That is the first time you provide a link. I asked for this link several times in this task. If you want less writing and talking, then please answer questions earlier.

Again, this is the expected format:

Steps to reproduce:

  1. I go to https://mnw.wiktionary.org/wiki/ကဏ္ဍ:α€‚αžα€”α€Ία€žα€„α€Ία€Ήα€α€»α€¬_မိဓေါထ်?uselang=en&useskin=vector-2022
  2. I click Add interlanguage links in the sidebar

What happens:
An unknown error occurred.

What should happen:
Dialog should be shown.

This problem is being tracked in T337081. It should get fixed soon.

Closing this task as a duplicate.
