Description

With MW 1.18 released, the Special:Search expects the search URL to set a profile parameter such as [1]. If the parameter is not set, the profile is set to advanced despite any preferences settings. For info on the profile parameter see [2], [3] Right now SphinxSearch does not determine any profile parameter.

The problem is not SphinxSearch but rather MW 1.18 routine that determines which search profile to use as default. See #32970
