Description:
When I click the "create an account or login" link on the top right of my wiki,
I get the following error:

Network Error (tcp_error)

A communication error occurred: ""
The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing
it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time.

For assistance, contact your network support team.

PHP does appear to attempt to log a session; php.ini reports that the session
information directory is /tmp, and a session file gets created there.
Permissions on tmp are drwxrwxrwt (sticky bit set).

I am running my wiki atop PHP 4.3.8, with Apache 2.0.52, on top of HP-UX 11.11
on a D-class Hewlett Packard server.

Look at your apache error log for any error.
Please upgrade mediawiki to lastest 1.4 version too.

It really looks like a local problem.

(Removed WORKSFORME resolution, as this may be specific to HP-UX.)
See also bug 1946 for an HP Apache fix.

re-resolving as WORKSFORME. No further information provided, and the "support
request" seems to have lapsed with more than 18 months of inactivity.
