The English Wikipedia community is concerned about the difficulty to newcomers in finding and using the common citation templates. They believe that providing accurate referencing can be a great barrier to successful newcomer participation and that facilitating that could be a great step to helping people become regular editors.
At most recent deployment, people must know the name of the template to guide them into correct use once they select "transclusion". (Speaking for myself, I like what happens when they do. :) Adding parameters by simple click and preloading required parameters is a great step forward.)
Is there anything that can be done to facilitate the use of some of the most common citation templates, such as cite web and cite book? Perhaps prelisting them on the reference page and opening them directly in the template editor when they are clicked on?
