meanwhile it's a module and has been linted
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/96403/
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/96362/
but that doesn't mean the packaging is done, see comment from source:
# NOTE: this does not install ishmael.. it could be git deployed,
# but it hasn't been moved to a wmf repo. for now:
# cd /srv ; git clone https://github.com/asher/ishmael.git ;
# cd ishmael ; git clone https://github.com/asher/ishmael.git sample

According to faidon, the github repo has not yet been moved to gerrit.

Ryan will comment on this ticket later. I asked Asher about it; upstream is
actually this repo, https://github.com/mihasya/ishmael. He and Ryan both
suggest trebuchet (formerly known as git-deploy) for this, rather than
packaging. This works with submodules already.

Yep. Trebuchet is likely the easiest way to manage this.

Dzahn set Security to None.

@jcrespo do you ever use ishmael.wikimedia.org ?

@Dzahn I don't, mainly because Springle didn't like it, so currently I am running pt-query-digest manually while I was trying to implement a replacement: T99485.

I'm wondering if we should just reject this ticket then and make a new one to decom it.

Dzahn lowered the priority of this task from Medium to Low.Aug 20 2015, 9:46 PM

suggest to set as "declined" in favor of decom ishmael

jcrespo claimed this task.

Use current tendril functionality (based on SHOW PROCESSLIST) + pt-query-digest manual runs until a proper functionality replacement is implemented: T99485
