reclaim graphite2001 allocation back to spare - remove ssds - new system required.
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Papaul,
We'll be re-naming an older system, and installing new SSDs into it to upgrade
it a bit.
System graphite2001, asset tag WMF5833, was called solr1. Please update its
physical label to graphite2001, and update the visible label field in
racktables.
Also, please note on this ticket what port this system is plugged into on
asw-b5-codfw, keeping in mind port #s start at 0. It will be ge-5/0/something.
This system will take the disks and drive trays ordered on RT 8813. There are
presently two HDD installed, the 4 SSD will go in ADDITION to the existing
disks. Please add the 4 SSDs to disk bays C,D,E,F (if memory serves, these
systems can accomodate 6 2.5" disks. If I am incorrect, please let me know!)
The management configuration (password & network details) need update. The new
mgmt ip will be: 10.193.1.252
Once the above is complete, update with the port # and you can resolve this
ticket. If there are any issues, update ticket, do not resolve, and assign to
me.
Thanks,4

Papaul,
The request was to add the 4 SSDs in addition to the existing two HDDs. Now
when I go into bios, I only see the 4 SSDS.
Please advise if you mistakenly removed the HDDs. They need to be in the two
lowest disk slots, with the SSDs in the remaining slots.

I stand corrected, H310 and config is all, Papaul did the right stuff.

Ok, now this system is renaming back to its asset tag, as it isn't going to work for this use. Also the SSDs need to be pulled out of it (if installed) and the original disks put back in.

Remove the label off the front of the system (or just put a blank one over it, whichever is easier), since we will have a new system for graphite2001 shortly. The switch port label has been updated in its software. Once label is removed, please remove it in the visible label field in racktables. System can be found in racktables by searching for its asset tag, WMF5833.

papaul: there were no original disk i had only 2 disk
papaul has left IRC (Client Quit)

I am not sure what this means, please elaborate.

You mentioned "Also the SSDs need to be pulled out of it (if installed) and the original disks put back in." i was saying that there were no original disks. where we had to add the 4 SSDs was just blank so if i pull the 4 SSDs i will have to put back the blank and i will have only the first 2 original disks left.

SSDs drivers pulled out from system and replaced with blanks.
Racktable update.

added back to spares, resolving task.
