I don't know whether this ever happens in the real world, but if Javascript fails after a failure to donate in my dev instance, I'm left in a state where I get a failure on the GC form every time I try to select a credit card. The issue is that I'm stuck with the initial donation's failed order_id, and so further calls to the GC API will fail.
