Bug triage:
- limited amount of sub-refs use tempaltes at the momen. Therefore, low prio for now.
Not a bug but rather bad design :)
Bug triage:
- cross article copy pasting sub-refs is missing certain metadata in the clipboard.
- Has no connection to synthetic refs.
Bug triage:
- issue is relevant for articles that do not have a reference list. These might be articles that are being created.
- Currently this is a known limitation and the recommendation is to add a reference list to articles that use sub-references (<referenes />) .
Bug triage: see parent bug
Bug triage:
- Assumption might be resolved with the synthetic refs approach
Bug triage:
- We will wait until we hear from users about this use case.
Bug Triage:
- relevant for Wikisource only. We have not deployed there yet.
Bug triage:
- Technically clear to solve.
Bug triage:
- Workaround is to remove the main reference from the template and add it somewhere else in-line.
- Data will give us a snapshot of how many references are defined within a template, like the infobox, and reused outside of the template, in the article.
- Assumption is that synth ref epic can fix the issue.
- Bigger issue due to VE unable to work with some templates.
Bug triage:
- Issues are lower priority than originally thought. Moving to "later" column.
Bug triage:
- part of synthetic ref cleanup. We will review once the milestone with deleting a reference list is met.

The affected charts as described above have been documented and deleted along with the queries on February 27th. The most important charts have been moved to
event.visualeditorfeatureuse. Next step is to create a ticket on WMDE's analytics board to aggregate the metrics instead of calculating them on-the-fly.

This bug is resolved. I'm closing it and will create a new task in our rollout epic.
Hi @BTullis, If the queries happen to still be running in the background please feel free to kill them all.
We won't run them again until we've at least done what @mpopov has explained above. See also https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T418511
