Echo notifications: Unread Messages not always display close icon (x)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Some screenshots that display different cases for unread messages:

Screen Shot 2015-09-16 at 2.34.45 PM.png (416×540 px, 56 KB)

Screen Shot 2015-09-15 at 11.20.43 AM.png (681×695 px, 128 KB)

Screen Shot 2015-09-15 at 11.19.15 AM.png (472×604 px, 62 KB)

Note:

  • happens quite often - try different users
  • after repeatedly refreshing a page, messages without close(x) button will eventually display it or will turn to status 'read' - with a grey background
  • no reliable steps to reproduce - looks like "asynchronous" updates for the counter and the drop-down list?

Making this unbreak now, this should be checked out before we redeploy the Echo changes.

I was able to reproduce the effect a couple times, using two different users. I couldn't get it to reproduce again with the same user twice.

Also related to this: Clicking the [x] does not mark the notification as read in the API.

Pulling this back to needs review for the additional patch.
