Description

On Wikivoyage.org text typed into edit box gives weird characters. Impossible to type crucial symbols. Tested on FireFox and Chromium on Kubuntu16.04. Other Mediawikis seem unaffected.

You might have accidentally enabled one of ULS's input methods. Try pressing Ctrl+M, or using the menu that pops up in the lower right corner of edit box:
