Description

Received the new pay-lvs servers in eqiad. This task is for the initial on-site setup and configuration.

pay-lvs1001 and 1002

  • - receive in normally @Cmjohnson
  • - rack in c1 @Cmjohnson
  • - bios and ilom setup @Cmjohnson
  • - network port setup (description/enable/vlan) -- should be completed by @faidon
  • - update dns records (mgmt)
  • - update dns records (production) @Cmjohnson
  • - update install_server module @Jgreen
  • - install OS @Jgreen
  • - accept/sign puppet/salt keys @Jgreen
  • - service implementation @Jgreen

@Cmjohnson could you take a look at BIOS/ILOM settings for pay-lvs1004? I tried to pxeboot-image it and the process kept croaking immediately after fetching a kernel and initrd from the tftp server. I tried disabling serial comm 'redirection after boot' as suggested here https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Platform-specific_documentation/Dell_PowerEdge_RN30#Initial_System_Setup and that only made things worse. FWIW pay-lvs1003 and frauth1001 of the same batch imaged without issue.
