Content on deletion page
Open, LowestPublicFeature

Description

Author: random832

Description:
A portion of the content (the same amount that is ordinarily in mediawiki:excontent) of the page being deleted should be available on the deletion page somewhere other than in the deletion summary box, so that scripts can work with it (and, for example, pick something from the dropdown based on a deletion tag found in the content). This is needed because consensus on en is to not use this as a deletion summary, but with excontent blanked that means it's not available anywhere on the delete page.

This is pretty abstract to me (plus I'm afraid that the user interface has changed a bit in the last six years); for example which scripts need to work with what exactly?
Can concrete examples be provided, please, so we can discuss real usecases and avoid misunderstandings?

I think that tools like Twinkle are already far beyond what this originally intended to target.

The original request was basically to show (a fragment) of the content on Special:Delete, in order to simplify the assessment of what would have to be specified as the deletion reason.

By default this is available as "MediaWiki:excontent", which is prefilled as the "other" reason in the deletion reason summary. This however led to much carelessness and very inaccurate deletions, as well as the log sometimes containing fragments of what was supposed to be deleted. By default was therefor disabled inside en.wp, but this caused the problem that the sysadmin has less visible 'context' than before.
