At click, do not do intempestive page scrolling, and put the cursor at the clicked place

Description

There is an annoying bug in Wikipedia.

Navigator: like Safari. The bug probably occurs with Safari 7.0.6 Mac too.

I go to the article of Wikipedia: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesures_d'expulsion_en_droit_civil_français
For the section “Les conditions communes aux opérations d'exécution”, I click modifier
This loads the visual editor of Wikipedia.
I click some text in the page — in the same section or in another section.

Expected result:

No scrolling occurs. The place where I clicked is still visible. The cursor blinks where I clicked.

Observed result:

Some intempestive scrolling occurs. Now, the place where I clicked is not visible anymore. The cursor blinks, but not at the place where I did click.

It would be nice to correct this bug.

Thank you.

I cannot reproduce this in Firefox (Ubuntu). Possibly Safari-specific?

I did notice that, whilst visual editor is loading, the page is scrolled further down than the section I was viewing (I assume because the Table of Contents was hidden), but once it finishes loading, the correct section is visible and my cursor is already blinking at the beginning of the first sentence, as expected. Clicking elsewhere reacted normally, too.

Tested at https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesures_d%27expulsion_en_droit_civil_fran%C3%A7ais#Les_conditions_communes_aux_op.C3.A9rations_d.27ex.C3.A9cution

OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 (15E65), Safari 9.1 (11601.5.17.1).

I have "Les conditions communes aux opérations d'exécution" as the first line in my window.
What happens for me when I click on https://fr.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mesures_d%27expulsion_en_droit_civil_français&veaction=edit&vesection=6 is that the part of the page I'm seeing now starts slightly above the "La signification du commandement de quitter les lieu" section.
Only on click the focus will be brought back where I expected it to be in the first place, that is at the beginning of the section I wanted to edit, " Selon l'article 28 de la loi du 9 juillet 1991 ...".

Though I understand that this is different from T150135: Some odd scrolling occurs on load, so the aimed section is not visible anymore, in Safari (?), I similarly cannot replicate the issue.

Unfortunately closing this Phabricator task as nobody else managed to reproduce. @Nnemo: If you can provide more details and if this still happens, please set the status of this task back to "Open" via the Add Action...Change Status dropdown. Thanks!
